SOURDOUGH DISCARD WAFFLES - (OR WAFFLES.)

These waffles are great for when you need to get rid of a bit of sourdough discard but don’t want it to go to waste OR they are just lovely as a classic waffle recipe. 

makes 6-8 waffles.

- ingredients -

  • 1 1/4 C. milk of choice, warmed

  • 60 g. sourdough discard

  • 2 C. AP flour of choice

  • 1 tsp. salt

  • 1 T. baking powder

  • 2 T. white sugar

  • 2 egg

  • 1 - 2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 1/2 C. butter, melted

- method -

  • Preheat your waffle maker.

  • In a medium-large bowl, add sourdough starter and warm milk and stir until mixed well.

    • If you don’t have sourdough discard, just move to the next step.

  • Add remaining wet ingredients. Stir in dry until combined.

  • Cook waffles according to desired crispness.

  • Serve with apple sauce and finely chopped apples tossed in brown sugar and cinnamon.
